“Direct patients to the right place instead of keeping them” – Minister to pastors

The deputy Ashanti Regional. inister, Madam Elizabeth Agyemang aka People’s mother has descended heavily on most prayer camps and self styled prophets of God who usually keep sick people in their churches under the pretext of healing to desist from it.

According to her, it’s high time we put such acts to stop and pave way for the right people to do their works.
She was speaking at a breast cancer forum at the Kumasi Technical University on the theme; The Role Of Religion in Breast Cancer Control in Africa, where she described it as very unfortunate the incessant rate at which pastors are diverting their roles which the preaching of the gospel, spiritual fortification etc and turning themselves pastors.
“We need your prayer support after you have directed cancer patients to experts, and that doesn’t mean you should yourselves doctors hence keeping these patients at your camps”, she said.
On her part, Dr. Mrs Beatrice Wife Addai, President and founder, breast care international and C. E.O of Peace and Love hospital disclosed breast cancer is curable but it’s very hurtful to witness most people considering the sickness as a death sentence attributing their factors to poverty, cost of journey transport to treatment centers as their main excuses until it gets worst.
She said the most worrying part is going to prayer center instead of going to the right place which is the hospital.
“We plead with our pastors to help direct these vulnerable people who easily get confuse and come to them to the right places.
“We don’t condemn prayers but we plead that they do the right thing at the right time” she said.
According to her, cancer is a worldwide sickness but people don’t die as much from it like it’s happening in Ghana. She attributed it to the fact that it’s all due to ignorance that makes pastors keep cancer patients at the their yard.
The program which was graced by dignitaries such as great pastors, kings, queens, professors etc also witnessed a panel discussion which was moderated by the immediate past Bishop of the Methodist Church, Most Rev. Professor Sarfo Kantanka, where they all condemned the act of pastors keeping cancer patients but counselled them to give what’s Caesar to Caesar since God’s true word doesn’t condone such greediness acts.

The discussion hosted Rev. Dr. Amhed Adjei, General Overseer of the Straightway Chapel, Rev. Prof. Paul Y. Frimpong Manso, President of Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, Bishop Dr. James Newcome, Bishop of the Church of England, UK, Dr. Mark Lodge Pietram, executive director of the international network for cancer treatment and research, UK etc.
Other dignitaries present were Nana Professor Mensah Bonus, Asakyirehene and also chairman for the occasion, Dr. Dennis Laryea, Program manager, non Communicable diseases of the Ghana health service, Mrs. Vivian Gyasi.Sarfo, PALSA President and Breast Cancer Survivor.
Uncountable number of second students from KSTS, Islamic SHS, Bankoman SHS, KASS were all in attendance.
